“…this smart aleck has an uncommonly sharp eye.” – The New York Times

The Emmy-award winning "King of Rants" comes to Santa Rosa to share his unique topical and often...

...acerbic brand of comedy! Miller’s half-hour, live talk show aired nine years on HBO and earned immense acclaim. Hi most recent standup special prompted The Hollywood Reporter to call Miller “the most cerebral, astute and clever standup ever to put mouth to microphone.”

Dennis Miller was a disappointment

The guy who came on before him, Mark Pita, was way funnier.

Dennis Miller was way too political. There were moments he made me laugh, but often I found myself not enjoying all of his jokes because I found myself distractd by his politics.

He said he would vote for McCain. He said he would vote for McCain because he doesn't want to live in an Islamic country; furthermore, I thought this type of nonsense had been abandoned and discredited by the conservative/Republican base. Guess not.

He also said that teacher's salary should be tied to student earnings when they get older and get jobs. Again, nonsense. He blamed teachers for poor academic student performance and used that as an excuse as to why education budgets should be reduced. Teachers, in fact, work extremely hard.

When Dennis Miller called upon the crowd to ascertain whether they were Republicans or Democrats (at different times), Republicans were louder in the audience than their counterparts when cheering. However, to be fair, Wells Fargo Arts was selling tickets up to the day of the event. I suppose that Democrats, smarter than myself, in the majority decided to avoid this Republican stump. I was hoping for more comedy, not serious/boring political nonsense.

Wall Street: he believes that corporate execs should get, literally, golden 500 lb. parachutes and dropped out of an airplane. The crowd agreed. He said he had very little invested in the market, saying that he was like the average joe when it came to stocks and didn't understand the whole investment thing. However, he was for the bailout just not the golden parachute thing.

My point is this, people high up in government are willing to bail out Wall St., but are not willing to fund school supplies like pencils for kids. Programs are being cut left and right in education, but those who make the decisions up in government are more willing to fund the rich than education.

Dennis Miller, otherwise, was funny and witty around any part that was not politics. His nonsense politics shadowed over the rest of his performance, and at times, it made it hard to like his other jokes that were not political, yet I'm sure they were funny. Like ABC Football, he should stay away from politics-- it was boring and he doesn't know what he's talking about.

Tonight's performance also made the crowd feel divided.
